Marlins Barbecue Episode 12: Cooking up trade possibilities

Red and Alex break down the Marlins’ mixed results last week and want to see the club pursue upgrades leading up to the MLB trade deadline.

Red Garcia and Alex Contreras Red Garcia and Alex Contreras (once again) take exception to some of Don Mattingly’s lineups and in-game maneuvers (2:20). They discuss the combination of Marlins trade targets and players on the verge of returning from the injured list (7:45). Also, the guys look forward to a critical week on the field with eight total games scheduled against the Nationals, Mets and Rays.

It was previously reported by Jon Morosi of MLB Network that Miami has been monitoring Kansas City’s veteran relievers.

Here’s the upcoming Marlins schedule:

  • Monday—6:05 p.m. ET vs. Nationals at Nationals Park
  • Tuesday (doubleheader)—first game begins 5:10 p.m. ET vs. Mets at Citi Field
  • Wednesday—7:10 p.m. ET vs. Mets at Citi Field
  • Thursday—7:10 p.m. ET vs. Mets at Citi Field
