Recording for the final time during the 2019 Minor League Baseball regular season, Danny Martinez welcomes right-hander Nick Neidert for an exclusive interview (2:30). The Georgia native touches on everything from college football and knee injury rehab to the skill set that’s made him one of the best prospects in a pitching rich Marlins farm system.

Neidert joined the Fish in one of the first transactions of the club’s rebuild, packaged with right-hander Robert Dugger and infielder Christopher Torres in the Dee Gordon trade. Dugger made his major league debut earlier this month, while Torres has served as the everyday shortstop for the Low-A Clinton LumberKings.
After leading all Marlins minor league arms in both innings pitched and strikeouts in 2018, Neidert was sidelined for approximately half of this season due to a knee injury. However, in five starts since rejoining the Triple-A New Orleans rotation, he’s a posted 2.54 earned run average, re-establishing himself as a legitimate long-term starting option at the highest level.

The 22-year-old is thought to be a likely Arizona Fall League participant and obvious addition to the Marlins 40-man roster this offseason.
