Here’s a show dedicated to the Marlins players who performed at a special level in 2021 without necessarily having the tools, track record or the hype of conventional top prospects. Swimming Upstream co-hosts Alex Carver and Daniel De Vivo join Ely Sussman to break down Eury Pérez, Troy Johnston, Jake Eder, Nick Fortes, Antonio Velez, Ian Lewis and more.
Enjoy Episode 40!
(My apologies for the background noise—there was a cricket loitering directly outside my window throughout the show.)
Here are 2021 Minor League Baseball stats for each of the featured players:

Don’t close the book yet on all of them for this year! Fortes, of course, has been called up to the majors where he’s been impressing as a part-time catcher/pinch-hitter for the Marlins. Johnston has confirmed that he’ll be participating in the prestigious Arizona Fall League, which begins October 13.
