Every Monday morning throughout the 2021 spring and summer, wake up and listen to Ely Sussman’s Marlins analysis! On this episode, he discusses the key players from Sunday’s spring training game win (4:20) and goes through the full list of last season’s Marlins who have landed with new teams (16:30).
Enjoy Episode 93!
One last opportunity to check out my assessment of the Marlins offseason for those who haven’t done so already.
With no assurances that FOX Sports Florida will be broadcasting any spring training games this year, the Marlins hastily coordinated a live video feed from the pressbox for their Grapefruit League opener and synced it with the radio call. Worked pretty well! Watch all seven innings of the 6-1 victory here (skip ahead to the 1:44:00 mark).
The “Old Friends” roundup covers all players who finished the 2020 season with the Marlins but have since continued their careers elsewhere: Harold Ramirez and Ryan Lavarnway (Indians), Brad Boxberger (Brewers), Adam Conley (Japan’s Rakuten Golden Eagles), Robert Dugger and Drew Steckenrider (Mariners), Matt Joyce and Brandon Kintzler (Phillies), Brian Moran (Rays), Josh A. Smith (Korea’s Kiwoom Heroes). Ryne Stanek (Astros), Stephen Tarpley and Jordan Yamamoto (Mets), José Ureña (Tigers), Alex Vesia (Dodgers) and Nick Vincent (Rangers).
