The Miami Marlins fell to the Pittsburgh Pirates 8-6 on Saturday afternoon. Randy Wolf struggled on the mound while Charlie Morton pitched well for the Pirates.

After a 13 inning loss on Friday, the Miami Marlins fell to the Pittsburgh Pirates 8-6 on Saturday afternoon in game two of the three game series.

Pittsburgh got on the board against Marlins starter Randy Wolf in the top of the second. Jordy Mercer opened the frame with a home run to left center field, and after the Pirates loaded the bases, Gregory Polanco added an RBI on a fielder's choice to give the Pirates a 2-0 edge. Wolf was able to induce a double play ball to end the inning.

Andrew McCutchen's three run home run to left field in the top of the fourth extended Pittsburgh's lead to five runs against Wolf, who struggled to find the strike zone with his offspeed pitches.

After three solid innings from Pirates starter Charlie Morton, Miami was able to score a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth. Garrett Jones walked and scored on a Marcell Ozuna triple down the right field line, and J.T. Realmuto hit a ground ball up the middle to make it a 5-2 contest.

Wolf was pulled after four innings, during which he gave up nine hits and five runs while walking and striking out two.

Kevin Slowey was the first to relieve Wolf, but Slowey's inability to keep the ball down in the zone led to a three run top of the fifth that gave the Pirates a six run lead.

Bryan Morris added two scoreless innings of relief and Mike Dunn worked a scoreless ninth for the Marlins before Marcell Ozuna and Jeff Baker each hit two run home runs. Miami will look to bounce back in the final game of the series on Sunday afternoon.

The Miami Marlins will look to bounce back from Friday's extra inning loss to the Pirates in game two of the three game set with Pittsburgh. Randy Wolf will be on the mound for the Marlins.

Coming off of Friday's extra innings loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Marlins will look to bounce back in game two of the three game series on Saturday afternoon. Randy Wolf will face off against Charlie Morton in the late afternoon contest.

Pitching Matchup

PROJ ERA

FIP

ERA

MARLINS

Pirates

ERA

FIP

PROJ ERA

4.27

3.27

4.15

Wolf

Morton

3.14

3.78

3.92

Randy Wolf's rotation spot may be in jeopardy as Andrew Heaney continues to pitch well in Triple-A, but it will be Wolf who will take the mound against the Pirates on Saturday. In his last start against the Cubs, Wolf went five and two third innings, giving up four runs while walking one and striking out a pair.

Charlie Morton, whose last start was also against the Cubs, went seven innings and gave up one run while striking out seven facing Chicago.

Lineups

Today's Lineups

PITTSBURGH PIRATES

MIAMI MARLINS

Gregory Polanco - RF

Rafael Furcal - 2B

Starling Marte - LF

Reed Johnson - LF

A. Hechavarria - SS

Charlie Morton - RHP

Randy Wolf - LHP

A late offensive rally kept the Marlins in Friday's game, and will be key facing Morton. Rafael Furcal remains in the leadoff spot, with Reed Johnson getting the start in left field. J.T. Realmuto gets the start behind the plate, with Adeiny Hechavarria sliding back into the eight spot.

Former Marlin Gaby Sanchez gets the start at first base for the Pirates, with Chris Stewart starting behind the plate and Josh Harrison managing second base.

Notes

-Will the bullpen play a role? Miami's bullpen was taxed on Friday, and a lengthy start by Wolf would likely be ideal.

-Christian Yelich is not in the lineup after suffering back spasms on Friday night.

Bold Prediction: Pirates def. Marlins 3-1
