<p>The Miami Marlins defeated the Atlanta Braves 9-3 on Wednesday night. Nathan Eovaldi was solid in seven innings of work. </p> <p>In their first matchup, <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.fishstripes.com/">Miami Marlins</a> starter <span>Nathan Eovaldi</span> and <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.talkingchop.com/">Braves</a> starter <span>Aaron Harang</span> were equally effective, with both going six innings and only yielding a single run. But in a rematch on Wednesday night, Harang wasn't nearly as effective and the Marlins' offense thrived for the second consecutive night in a 9-3, series clinching victory.</p>
<p>Facing Harang, the Marlins got off to a quick start in the bottom of the second inning. <span>Casey McGehee</span> scored on a Garrett Jones RBI-single to make it 1-0, and Marcell Ozuna took Harang deep to right center field to give the Marlins a four run advantage. Ozuna's home run was the first long ball Harang allowed on the season.</p>
<p>Miami scored in the third on a <span>Jarrod Saltalamacchia</span> sacrifice fly, and taking advantage of high pitches, the Marlins added two runs in both the fourth and fifth innings, punctuated by a <span>Christian Yelich</span> home run to right field.</p>
<p>Harang exited after four and two third innings, during which he gave up ten hits and nine runs while walking one and striking out four.</p>
<p>Atlanta struggled to rally against Eovaldi, whose fastball touched 97 mph consistently. <span>David Hale</span> followed <span>Andrelton Simmons</span>' triple with a sacrifice fly, but Eovaldi had control with a large lead. In his seven innings, he gave up three hits and one run while striking out five and walking one.</p>
<p><span>A.J. Ramos</span> and <span>Brad Hand</span>, who gave up a late home run to <span>Justin Upton</span>, each pitched an inning in relief as the Marlins clinched a series victory.</p>

<p>The Miami Marlins will look to win the series in game two of a three game set with the Braves on Wednesday night. Nathan Eovaldi will be on the mound on for the Marlins.</p> <p>Jose Fernandez and the <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.fishstripes.com/">Miami Marlins</a>' offense thrived on Tuesday night in a 9-0 victory, and the Marlins will look to win the series in game two of the three game set on Wednesday night. <span>Nathan Eovaldi</span> will be on the mound for the Marlins.</p>
<h5>Pitching Matchup</h5>
<table border="0" class="sbn-data-table"><tbody> <tr class="ui-state-even"> <th><font face="Arial, Verdana, sans-serif" color="#000000">PROJ ERA</font></th> <th><font face="Arial, Verdana, sans-serif" color="#000000">FIP</font></th> <th><font face="Arial, Verdana, sans-serif" color="#000000">ERA</font></th> <th><font face="Arial, Verdana, sans-serif" color="#000000">MARLINS</font></th> <th><font face="Arial, Verdana, sans-serif" color="#000000">METS</font></th> <th><font face="Arial, Verdana, sans-serif" color="#000000">ERA</font></th> <th><font face="Arial, Verdana, sans-serif" color="#000000">FIP</font></th> <th><font face="Arial, Verdana, sans-serif" color="#000000">PROJ ERA</font></th> </tr> <tr class="ui-state-odd"> <td>3.87</td> <td>2.87</td> <td>2.19</td> <td>Eovaldi</td> <td>Harang</td> <td>0.85</td> <td>2.27</td> <td>3.93<br> </td> </tr> </tbody></table>
<p>Eovaldi has consistently followed <span>Jose Fernandez's</span> typically effective performances with solid starts of his own, and will look to do the same against a solid Atlanta lineup. Eovaldi has to be able to get ahead with his fastball, which he did in his last outing against the <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.talkingchop.com/">Braves</a>. In six innings, he gave up an unearned run while striking out seven.</p>
<p>Harang has been a consistent addition to the Atlanta rotation, and gave up one run in six innings of work to the Marlins in his last start.</p>

<p>Led by homers off the bats of Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Giancarlo Stanton, the Marlins were able to score nine times on Tuesday night. Ed Lucas remains in the lineup batting second, and Garrett Jones returns and is in the six spot.</p>
<p>Dan Uggla, B.J. and Justin Upton are all back in the lineup against Eovaldi.</p>
<h5>Notes</h5>
<p>-Can the Marlins win the series? Miami hasn't won a series since sweeping Seattle at home, but will have a chance to do so on Wednesday night.</p>
<p>-Will Eovaldi repeat past success? Eovaldi was efficient in his last start against Atlanta, but should look to get deeper into the game.</p>
