<p>The Miami Marlins fell to the Atlanta Braves in the final game of the three game series on Wednesday afternoon. Nathan Eovaldi was effective, but the Marlins couldn't score runs. </p> <p>Looking to win the series against the <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.talkingchop.com/">Atlanta Braves</a> on Wednesday afternoon, the <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.fishstripes.com/">Miami Marlins</a> struggled offensively and couldn't support <span>Nathan Eovaldi</span> in a 3-1 loss to one of their National League East rivals.</p>
<p>Atlanta got on the board first facing Eovaldi in the bottom of the fourth. <span>Chris Johnson</span> reached on an <span>Adeiny Hechavarria</span> throwing error and advanced to second on a wild pitch before <span>Ryan Doumit</span> drove him in with a single to center field, giving the <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/mlb/teams/rome-braves">Braves</a> an early 1-0 edge.</p>
<p>Doumit's single led to the only run Eovaldi would give up on the afternoon. In six innings, he gave up five hits while walking one and striking out seven. Eovaldi worked out of a pair of jams in both the first and fifth innings, limiting the productivity of the Braves' lineup.</p>
<p>Miami got its lone run against Atlanta starter <span>Aaron Harang</span> in the top of the sixth. With two outs, <span>Marcell Ozuna</span> singled and scored on a <span>Giancarlo Stanton</span> double to temporarily tie the game at one.</p>
<p>While the Marlins went 1-7 with runners in scoring position, the Braves were able to score against the Marlins' bullpen in the bottom of the eighth.</p>
<p><span>Mike Dunn</span> walked Johnson and gave up a single to <span>Dan Uggla</span> in between recording a pair of outs, and <span>A.J. Ramos</span> gave up a two run double to <span>Evan Gattis</span> to give the Braves a 3-1 lead they would hold on to.</p>
<p>Christian Yelich was able to extend his hitting streak to 17 games, but <span>Craig Kimbrel</span> shut the Marlins down in the ninth, recording his sixth save of the season.</p>

<p>The Miami Marlins will look to take the series over the Atlanta Braves in game three on Wednesday afternoon. Nathan Eovaldi will be on the hill for the Marlins.</p> <p>Coming off of a 1-0 win over the Atlanta <a href="http://www.sbnation.com/mlb/teams/rome-braves" class="sbn-auto-link">Braves</a> on Tuesday night, the <a href="https://www.fishstripes.com/" class="sbn-auto-link">Miami Marlins</a> will look to win the series against one of their National League East rivals in game three of the set on Wednesday afternoon. <span>Nathan Eovaldi</span> will be on the mound for the Marlins.</p>
<h5>Pitching Matchup</h5>
<table border="0" class="sbn-data-table"><tbody> <tr class="ui-state-even"> <th><font face="Arial, Verdana, sans-serif" color="#000000">PROJ ERA</font></th> <th><font face="Arial, Verdana, sans-serif" color="#000000">FIP</font></th> <th><font face="Arial, Verdana, sans-serif" color="#000000">ERA</font></th> <th><font face="Arial, Verdana, sans-serif" color="#000000">MARLINS</font></th> <th><font face="Arial, Verdana, sans-serif"><a href="https://www.talkingchop.com/" class="sbn-auto-link">Braves</a></font></th> <th><font face="Arial, Verdana, sans-serif" color="#000000">ERA</font></th> <th><font face="Arial, Verdana, sans-serif" color="#000000">FIP</font></th> <th><font face="Arial, Verdana, sans-serif" color="#000000">PROJ ERA</font></th> </tr> <tr class="ui-state-odd"> <td>3.94</td> <td>2.21</td> <td>3.55</td> <td>Eovaldi</td> <td>Harang</td> <td>0.70</td> <td>2.73</td> <td>4.04<br> </td> </tr> </tbody></table>
<p>Eovaldi is charged with the task of following <span>Jose Fernandez's</span> solid eight inning performance in Miami's win over the Braves on Tuesday night. He must have control of both his fastball and offspeed pitches in order to succeed against a lineup with several powerful left-handed hitters. In his last start against the <a href="https://www.lookoutlanding.com/" class="sbn-auto-link">Mariners</a>, Eovaldi went six innings and gave up three runs while walking two and striking out four.</p>
<p><span>Aaron Harang</span> will be on the mound for the Braves. In his last start against the <a href="https://www.amazinavenue.com/" class="sbn-auto-link">Mets</a>, Harang went seven innings and didn't give up a run while striking out five and walking six.</p>
<h5>Lineups</h5>
<div class="pane sports_data_widget lineup clearfix"> <h3>Today's Lineups</h3> <div class="lineup"><table cellspacing="0" class="zebra"> <thead><tr> <th align="left">MIAMI MARLINS</th> <th align="left">ATLANTA BRAVES</th> </tr></thead> <tbody> <tr> <td class="td-last td-name">Christian Yelich - LF</td> <td class="td-first td-name"> <span>Jason Heyward</span> - RF</td> </tr> <tr> <td class="td-last td-name"> <span>Marcell Ozuna</span> - CF</td> <td class="td-first td-name"> <span>Andrelton Simmons</span> - SS</td> </tr> <tr> <td class="td-last td-name"> <span>Giancarlo Stanton</span> - RF</td> <td class="td-first td-name"> <span>Freddie Freeman</span> - 1B</td> </tr> <tr> <td class="td-last td-name"> <span>Garrett Jones</span> - 1B</td> <td class="td-first td-name"> <span>Chris Johnson</span> - 3B</td> </tr> <tr> <td class="td-last td-name"> <span>Casey McGehee</span> - 3B</td> <td class="td-first td-name"> <span>Ryan Doumit</span> - LF</td> </tr> <tr> <td class="td-last td-name"> <span>Derek Dietrich</span> - 2B</td> <td class="td-first td-name"> <span>Dan Uggla</span> - 2B</td> </tr> <tr> <td class="td-last td-name"> <span>Adeiny Hechavarria</span> - SS</td> <td class="td-first td-name"> <span>Jordan Schafer</span> - CF</td> </tr> <tr> <td class="td-last td-name"> <span>Jeff Mathis</span> - C</td> <td class="td-first td-name"> <span>Gerald Laird</span> - C</td> </tr> <tr> <td class="td-last td-name">Nathan Eovaldi - RHP</td> <td class="td-first td-name">Aaron Harang - RHP</td> </tr> </tbody> </table></div> </div>
<p>Derek Dietrich makes his triumphant and deserved return to the starting lineup in today's contest, as <span>Donovan Solano</span> gets a rest. How much longer is Dietrich even set in the lineup, however, with the impending arrival of <span>Rafael Furcal</span>? Speaking of which, is Rafael Furcal going to take the teadoff spot away from Christian Yelich, who has done so well with it? Ugh.</p>
<h5>Notes</h5>
<p>-Will the Marlins' offense support Eovaldi? Jose Fernandez got just one run of support, and while that is all he needed, Eovaldi may need a few more to keep the Marlins in the game against a solid Braves lineup.</p>
<p>-Can the hitting streak continue? <span>Christian Yelich</span> extended his hitting streak to 16 games on Tuesday, and will look to make it 17 on Wednesday afternoon.</p>
<p><strong>Bold Prediction: Marlins def. Braves 4-2</strong></p>
