Through his first six major league starts, Poteet has posted a 3.90 ERA, 4.94 FIP and 35.6 GB% in 27.2 IP. The sample size for Thompson is even tinier (3 GS): 1.50 ERA, 2.09 FIP, 34.5 GB% in 12.0 IP

Nick Pollack of Pitcher List has a new fascinating breakdown of Thompson’s pitch quality and strategy from Sunday’s hitless start against the Cubs.

Garagiola spoke with us coming off a successful homestand for the Blue Wahoos. The Double-A affiliate improved to 26-16, the best record in the Double-A South.

Some miscellaneous notes about their season:

  • The Blue Wahoos have won six of their last seven games, all those wins coming by two runs or less.
  • Jake Eder (1.08) and Max Meyer (1.42) own the two lowest earned run averages in the Double-A South (among qualified pitchers).
  • Peyton Burdick leads the league with 20 extra-base hits and is the only individual who’s played in every scheduled game.
  • Colton Hock has nine saves, the most of anybody in Minor League Baseball.
