Miami Marlins fans will have become accustomed to the fact that they have a number of their top prospects make their Major League Baseball (MLB) debuts in a relatively quick time.
The Florida-based franchise have seen it become a rather regular thing, with 2020 having proven no different as the likes of Sixto Sanchez, Jazz Chisholm, Trevor Rogers, Monte Harrison and others all make their debuts in the last campaign.
Indeed, each of them played a huge role in helping the Miami Marlins to be successful in the regular season and the postseason during last year’s campaign. That season made them incredibly popular with bettors using Indiana Unibet, with some fancying them once again this season, despite having some rather long odds.
So, who can Miami Marlins fans expect to see make their debuts this season?
JJ Bleday
A former first-round pick, JJ Bleday could make his MLB debut in 2021 for the Miami Marlins as he is thought of incredibly highly by those in baseball. Having been touted as the Marlins’ #2 prospect and the #16 in the whole of baseball, he was sought-after when it became apparent that he would be eligible to leave college for the professional game.
He helped lead Vanderbilt to a national championship, whilst he also led the leaderboard with 27 home runs, thus making him appear to be a rather special player. There is no doubt that he will be a special player for the Marlins in the future, but he could get his chance in 2021 if he continues to impress in the Double-A, where he is currently playing with Pensacola.
Edward Cabrera
Some would argue that Edward Cabrera does not get the recognition that he deserves, but the Miami Marlins will not mind that as they will be happy if the pitcher is able to go about his work under the radar, especially as he has all the potential.
Cabrera signed for the Marlins back in 2015 but had struggled, although 2019 was his break-out year as he managed to make 19 combined starts across the A+ and the Double-A leagues with Jupiter and Jacksonville, respectively.
If he did not have minor injuries last season, Miami Marlins fans would have likely seen Cabrera in action throughout the 2020 campaign, however with the array of weapons he has in regards to the balls that he can throw, it would not be a surprise to see him on a pitching mound in the MLB in 2021.
Jesus Sanchez
Jesus Sanchez could be argued to be the best prospect that the Miami Marlins have right now due to the form that he is currently showing. Sanchez was on fire throughout this minor league season and has continued to impress with his performances.
Sanchez has already had a taste of what the MLB is all about but did struggle when up at the plate. However, his performances have shown encouraging signs that he could be ready to give the top league a go in 2021 with more conviction and confidence.
Admittedly, he will need to keep on performing well in the minor league to earn that call-up, but if he does, there is no doubt that he will be seen in a Miami Marlins uniform in the MLB in 2021.
Lewin Diaz
Lewin Diaz is another prospect that has already had a taste of the MLB, but could also get his shot at it again this season as he continues to impress in the Triple-A.
Potentially the Marlins’ first baseman in the future, Diaz has continued to show that he can continue to hit the home runs required when in playing in the position that he does.
A power-hitter, Diaz made his debut in the MLB back in 2020 but went 6/39 at the plate, and whilst the numbers were not considered impressive, they were enough to earn him a place on the 2020 NL Wild Card Series. If he continues to perform as he is in the Triple-A league, then it would not be a surprise to see him in the MLB again in the near future.
