Ely Sussman and Ethan Budowsky are joined by journalist/broadcaster Daniel Álvarez Montes (El Extrabase, IVC Networks, Swings and Mishes en Español). They weigh in on the Marlins’ offseason activities (4:30) before jumping into a looooong conversation about this year’s candidates for the Baseball Hall of Fame (28:00). Listen for breakdowns of 13 all-time great players, seven of whom appear on each of our ballots: Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Todd Helton, Andruw Jones, Scott Rolen, Curt Schilling and Gary Sheffield. The episode wraps up with an homage to retiring MLB.com beat reporter Joe Frisaro (1:29:00).

For anybody who is passionate about the Hall of Fame voting process, I recommend bookmarking the BBHOF Tracker, managed by Ryan Thibodaux. As of early Thursday morning, Thibodaux estimates that approximately 10.9% of this year’s ballots have been revealed. None of the eligible players are on pace to receive the 75% support needed for induction.
No player has ever been inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame as a Marlin (nobody for whom the Marlins were considered their "primary team"). Who will be the first?
