The Offishial Show Episode 82: Miami Marlins Dream Draft

Swimming Upstream co-hosts and Marlins prospect experts Alex Carver and Daniel De Vivo battle Ely Sussman for the best active players in the Miami organization. The Dream Draft rules (2:00) allow for plenty of creativity. Which of us did the best job building a 12-man roster that can dominate the next decade?

These were the draft rules:

-Objective is to build the best possible team for the next 10 years (maximize MLB production for the 2021-2030 seasons)

-All players currently in the Marlins organization are eligible (anybody assigned to 40-man roster or MiLB affiliate rosters as of Nov. 23)

-12 rounds

-Must draft players to fill C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, 3 OFs, DH, RHP, LHP and a “wild card”

-Two-minute time limit in between picks

You’ll notice some similarities between this and the first-ever Dream Draft involving Ely, Jacob Carrion and Shane Sutton. Sixto, Jazz and BA were selected within the top four overall picks back then, too.
