Welcome to Thursday’s Marlins (58-81, -37 RD) vs. Mets (70-70, -9 RD) game thread.

During every Marlins game, join in on the Fish Picks prop bets fun. They give you something to focus on even with the team out of World Series contention. Please use this link!

Picks are only valid if submitted to us prior to first pitch.

The Fish Picks leaderboard is updated daily. Nobody picked a Perfect Game on Wednesday.

At the end of each month, the Fish Picks winner—whoever has the percentage of correct picks (among qualifiers)—will receive a hand-painted Trevor Rogers baseball card.

Everybody’s point totals have been reset for the start of September.

Mets Starting Lineup

  1. SS Francisco Lindor
  2. 1B Pete Alonso
  3. 2B Javier Báez
  4. 3B J.D. Davis
  5. RF Michael Conforto
  6. CF Kevin Pillar
  7. LF Dom Smith
  8. C James McCann
  9. RHP Marcus Stroman (2021 season stats: 2.93 ERA, 3.43 FIP, 21.3 K%, 43.4 HardHit% in 156.2 IP)
Marcus Stroman - 2021 Frequency of Pitches by Pitch Speed Baseball Savant

Notes: Stroman has made 40 starts since joining the Mets, but only two against the Marlins (and one of those was abbreviated due to rain). Although his groundball rate in 2021 (48.5 GB%) is much lower than his career norm (57.1 GB%), he’s still great at preventing homers...Villar is approximately the same quality hitter this season that he was in 2019. Perhaps that’s more representative of his talent than his frustrating Marlins/Blue Jays campaign?

Marlins Starting Lineup

  1. SS Miguel Rojas
  2. 2B Jazz Chisholm Jr.
  3. LF Bryan De La Cruz
  4. RF Jesús Sánchez
  5. 1B Lewin Díaz
  6. C Sandy León
  7. 3B Isan Díaz
  8. CF Magneuris Sierra
  9. LHP Jesús Luzardo (2021 season stats: 7.00 ERA, 5.93 FIP, 21.3 K%, 39.2 HardHit% in 72.0 IP)
Jesús Luzardo - 2021 Frequency of Pitches by Pitch Speed Baseball Savant

Notes: Alex Jackson recorded two hits on Wednesday, his first multi-hit game in the majors this season (for either the Braves and Marlins). Progress!...Every Marlins reliever with the exception of Paul Campbell should be available.

How to watch/listen/follow

Prior to first pitch, the Marlins will hold a special pregame ceremony in remembrance of the 20th anniversary of Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. The game itself will get underway at approximately 6:40 p.m. ET. Watch on Bally Sports Florida or listen to the radio broadcast on 940 WINZ.

Alex Krutchik (@AlexKrutchikCJN) is at LoanDepot Park as a credentialed reporter and will handle the game recap article.

All Marlins full-season minor league affiliates are also in action (weather permitting). Follow @FishProspects for notes and highlights.
