Welcome to Thursday’s Marlins (55-78, -39 RD) vs. Mets (65-67, -25 RD) game thread. Wednesday’s scheduled game was rained out and will be made up at the end of the month as part of a single-admission doubleheader.
During every Marlins game, join in on the Fish Picks prop bets fun. They give you something to focus on even with the team out of World Series contention. Please use this link!
Picks are only valid if submitted to us prior to first pitch.
The Fish Picks leaderboard is updated daily. Congrats to SkepticFishFan, who picked a Perfect Game on Tuesday to clinch the August 2021 Fish Picks title.
At the end of each month, the Fish Picks winner—whoever has the percentage of correct picks (among qualifiers)—will receive a hand-painted Trevor Rogers baseball card.
Everybody’s point totals have been reset for the start of September.

Marlins Starting Lineup
- SS Miguel Rojas
- 2B Jazz Chisholm Jr.
- 1B Jesús Aguilar
- RF Jesús Sánchez
- CF Lewis Brinson
- 3B Isan Díaz
- C Jorge Alfaro
- LF Bryan De La Cruz
- RHP Sandy Alcantara (3.27 ERA, 3.56 FIP, 23.4 K%, 38.8 HardHit% in 165.1 IP)
Notes: By keeping Alcantara on regular rest, the Marlins are skipping/pushing back Zach Thompson’s start...Brinson recorded two hits on Tuesday night, but had only two over his previous 10 games combined, dropping his season weighted runs created plus slightly below league average (96 wRC+).
Mets Starting Lineup
- 3B Jonathan Villar
- CF Brandon Nimmo
- SS Francisco Lindor
- 1B Pete Alonso
- RF Michael Conforto
- 2B Javier Báez
- LF Jeff McNeil
- C Patrick Mazeika
- RHP Carlos Carrasco (2021 season stats: 6.94 ERA, 5.04 FIP, 23.0 K%, 37.0 HardHit% in 23.1 IP)

Notes: Following a severe hamstring injury, Carrasco wasn’t fully stretched out as a starter when he faced the Fish last month. Even now, his max pitch count through six outings is 78...Prior to the game, the Mets claimed old friend Brad Hand off waivers from the Blue Jays. Hand is having far and away his worst season since leaving Miami, rarely missing bats over the last month or so in particular.
