Welcome to Friday’s Marlins (62-84, -41 RD) vs. Pirates (54-92, -208 RD) game thread. This begins Miami’s second-to-last homestand of the 2021 season.
During every Marlins game, join in on the Fish Picks prop bets fun. They give you something to focus on even with the team out of World Series contention. Please use this link!
Picks are only valid if submitted to us prior to first pitch.
The Fish Picks leaderboard is updated daily. Nobody picked a Perfect Game on Wednesday.
At the end of each month, the Fish Picks winner—whoever has the percentage of correct picks (among qualifiers)—will receive a hand-painted Trevor Rogers baseball card.
Everybody’s point totals have been reset for the start of September.
Pirates Starting Lineup
- 3B Ke’Bryan Hayes
- RF Yoshi Tsutsugo
- CF Bryan Reynolds
- 1B Brian Moran
- C Jacob Stallings
- SS Cole Tucker
- LF Anthony Alford
- 2B Hoy Park
- RHP Wil Crowe (2021 season stats: 5.97 ERA, 5.91 FIP, 20.7 K%, 37.3 HardHit% in 101.0 IP)
Notes: Crowe has faced the second-most batters among all Pirates this season, so it shouldn’t surprise you to learn that they have the second-worst team ERA in the National League (5.)...Tsutsugo is excelling since being picked up off the scrap heap (.296/.393/.690, 180 wRC+). He had zero home runs in 38 combined games with the Rays and Dodgers, but has gone deep seven times in 27 contests with the Bucs...David Bednar was emerging as a capable close for Pittsburgh, he went down with a right oblique strain. The injury likely ends his season, and at the very least, sidelines him for this series.
Marlins Starting Lineup
- SS Miguel Rojas
- 2B Jazz Chisholm Jr.
- CF Bryan De La Cruz
- RF Jesús Sánchez
- LF Lewis Brinson
- 1B Lewin Díaz
- C Payton Henry
- 3B Eddy Alvarez
- RHP Elieser Hernandez (2021 season stats: 4.14 ERA, 5.14 FIP, 23.4 K%, 37.8 HardHit% in 37.0 IP)
Notes: Welcome to The Show, Payton Henry! And Nick Fortes! Both catchers were brought up from Triple-A Jacksonville, filling the shoes of Jorge Alfaro (calf strain) and Isan Díaz (demoted to Triple-A)...If Rojas starts in his usual spot near the top of the batting order and plays the complete game, he’ll reach 500 plate appearances for the season and trigger the 2022 vesting option in his contract (Rojas must also enter the offseason without a severe injury to make things official).
