Marlins players Nasim Nuñez, Eury Pérez, Jefry Yan, Josan Mendez and George Soriano were selected in Wednesday’s Dominican Winter League rookie draft. That does not obligate them to participate—the player’s MLB organization needs to grant permission for them to do so.

Marlins minor league affiliates went a combined 10-11 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday:

  • Triple-A—Charlotte 1, Jacksonville 2; Charlotte 1, Jacksonville 2; Charlotte 5, Jacksonville 6 (F/10)
  • Double-A—Biloxi 4, Pensacola 2; Biloxi 5, Pensacola 3; Biloxi 5, Pensacola 2
  • High-A—South Bend 5, Beloit 11; South Bend 0, Beloit 1; South Bend 5, Beloit 2

McCambley’s curveball was extra nasty on Thursday.

For those curious, left-hander Jake Eder underwent his Tommy John surgery on September 1.

High-A Beloit (51-60)

Tuesday’s starting pitcher RHP Josh Simpson: 4.0 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 4 K

Wednesday’s starting pitcher LHP Dax Fulton: 4.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 7 K

Thursday’s starting pitcher RHP M.D. Johnson: 6.0 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 2 K, 1 HR

Bennett Hostetler became the first 2021 Marlins draftee to reach High-A. He’s now the Snappers’ regular third baseman and cleanup hitter.

Víctor Víctor Mesa is hitting .333 since his demotion. It is the second-best mark in the High-A Central among players with at least 100 at-bats.

Connor Scott has been sidelined the last few games after taking a hit by pitch on the wrist/forearm.

Low-A Jupiter (59-50)

Tuesday’s starting pitcher RHP Evan Fitterer: 3.0 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 2 K

Wednesday’s starting pitcher LHP Luis Palacios: 5.0 IP, 5 H, 5 R (4 ER), 1 BB, 3 K, 1 HR

Thursday’s starting pitcher RHP Chris Mokma: 6.0 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 4 K

Paul McIntosh appears to be a player in the JD Osborne mold. He makes loud contact from the right side and can fill in at multiple defensive spots, most importantly catcher.

Turning 24 in November, McIntosh is all but certain to move up to Beloit in 2022.

Shoutout to Fish On The Farm favorite Jesús E. Sánchez. Over the last calendar month (18 innings), he has allowed only two runs while striking out 25 and walking one.

FCL Marlins (22-26)

Tuesday’s Game 1 starting pitcher RHP Mario Doble: 3.0 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 2 K (resumption of previously suspended game)

Red-hot Kahlil Watson hasn’t played since September 1 (though he hasn’t been placed on the injured list, either).
