New Marlins Game Recap

  • Friday’s minor league scores: Triple-A Jacksonville won, 3-2; Double-A Pensacola lost, 4-0; High-A Beloit won, 11-0; Low-A Jupiter won, 9-7; FCL Marlins won, 3-1; DSL Marlins won, 3-0. Daniel Castano (left shoulder impingement) began his minor league rehab assignment with three scoreless innings and the Jumbo Shrimp rallied for their 12th victory in the last 15 games.
  • Also on the injury update front, Pablo López (right rotator cuff strain) is scheduled to throw a 20-pitch bullpen session today
  • Congrats to catcher Derek Vegas on being named the DSL team’s Player of the Month for July.
  • FiveThirtyEight gives the Marlins a 46% chance to win their next game against the Rockies.
  • Upon returning from a family emergency, Trevor Rogers will be allowed to stick in the Marlins starting rotation through season’s end. Pitching coach Mel Stottlemyre Jr. tells the Miami Herald’s Jordan McPherson that the NL Rookie of the Year contender is being capped at 175 innings, but that’s a moot point with Rogers currently at 110 and only enough time remaining for 10 more starts.
