Marlins vs. Mets: Start time, how to watch, game thread and Fish Picks—August 31, 2021

Welcome to Tuesday’s Marlins (55-76, -36 RD) vs. Mets (63-67, -28 RD) game thread. Let’s play two...sort of—these teams will be resuming their suspended game from April 11 in the afternoon, then playing as originally scheduled in the evening.

Notes: Edward Cabrera will pitch the night game...Bryan De La Cruz is making a bid to become only the second player in Marlins history to maintain a .500 batting average on balls in play for an entire month while starting regularly.

Notes: During August home games, the Mets have a 5-1 record against the depleted Nationals and an 0-7 record against all other opponents...Both of these teams have had issues with offensive consistency, scoring two runs or fewer in 47 games, tied for the third-highest total in the majors...Watch out for old friend Villar. He’s slashing .311/.403/.503 at Citi Field this year, and overall, he’s 11-for-his-last-22 at the plate (.500 BA).

Resumption of the suspended game is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. ET and out-of-market fans can find it on MLB Network. First pitch of the regularly scheduled game with be 7:10 p.m. ET. Watch on Bally Sports Florida or listen to the radio broadcast on 940 WINZ.
