Everybody’s point totals have been reset for the start of August.

Nationals Starting Lineup

  1. CF Lane Thomas
  2. SS Alcides Escobar
  3. RF Juan Soto
  4. 1B Ryan Zimmerman
  5. 3B Carter Kieboom
  6. LF Yadiel Hernández
  7. C Tres Barrera
  8. 2B Luis García
  9. RHP Erick Fedde (2021 season stats: 5.14 ERA, 4.56 FIP, 20.6 K%, 41.8 HardHit% in 96.1 IP)
Erick Fedde - 2021 Frequency of Pitches by Pitch Speed Baseball Savant

Notes: With very little protection for him in the lineup, Soto has drawn an astounding 26 walks in 20 games played since the trade deadline...The former top prospect Kieboom has been taking advantage of everyday reps at third base, slashing .288/.372/.479 during that same span.

Marlins Starting Lineup

  1. SS Miguel Rojas
  2. 2B Jazz Chisholm Jr.
  3. LF Lewis Brinson
  4. RF Jesús Sánchez
  5. 3B Brian Anderson
  6. 1B Jorge Alfaro
  7. CF Bryan De La Cruz
  8. C Alex Jackson
  9. LHP Jesús Luzardo (2021 season stats: 7.76 ERA, 6.22 FIP, 21.8 K%, 38.0 HardHit% in 55.2 IP)
Jesús Luzardo - 2021 Frequency of Pitches by Pitch Speed Baseball Savant

Notes: Top pitching prospect Edward Cabrera has joined the team in Miami, but won’t be formally recalled until Wednesday. Who will lose their roster spot as the corresponding move? Most likely a reliever, but Luzardo himself could be a demotion/phantom injury candidate if he has yet another awful outing...Our own Juan Páez is encouraged by the improvement that Chisholm has shown in several areas during August.
