• Friday’s MiLB scores: Triple-A Jacksonville won, 3-2, and won, 6-5 (doubleheader); Double-A Pensacola lost, 4-3; High-A Beloit lost, 2-1; FCL Marlins trailed, 7-5, when their game was suspended in the eighth inning; DSL Marlins lost, 6-5.
• The Marlins have $4.54 million available to sign top draft pick Kahlil Watson (nearly $800k above his slot value).
• Aside from obvious trade chip Starling Marte, Marlins right fielder Adam Duvall “seems to be in play” as well. Duvall’s 68 runs batted in this season rank second in the National League, trailing only teammate Jesús Aguilar.
• Currently on the bereavement list, Sandy Alcantara will rejoin the Marlins rotation during their series against the Orioles.
• The Marlins have 11 players on the IL following Jon Berti’s concussion. That number will soon come down to nine with Brian Anderson having just returned from his rehab assignment and Jazz Chisholm Jr. on track to be activated once eligible on the next homestand. On a new episode of Swings and Mishes, Craig Mish provides more injury updates—Garrett Cooper’s elbow sprain will likely sideline him until September and Jesús Sánchez (COVID Related IL) is still multiple weeks away.
