Notes: Heartbreaking news announced by the Braves late Saturday night: Ronald Acuña Jr. will undergo season-ending surgery after suffering a complete tear of his right ACL. The injury occured when Acuña leapt to attempt a catch in deep right field in the fifth inning. Since debuting in 2018, the Venezuelan outfielder leads all major leaguers in home runs (21), extra-base hits (35) and runs scored (60) against the Marlins (and he’s top three in numerous other categories)...Prior to the game, the Braves recalled Johan Camargo from Triple-A and placed Acuña on the 60-day IL.

Marlins Lineup

  1. 2B Jazz Chisholm Jr.
  2. CF Starling Marte
  3. RF Garrett Cooper
  4. 1B Jesús Aguilar
  5. LF Jesús Sánchez
  6. SS Miguel Rojas
  7. C Sandy León
  8. 3B Joe Panik
  9. RHP Pablo López (2021 season stats: 2.94 ERA, 3.20 FIP, 26.6 K%, 33.5 HardHit% in 95.0 IP)

Notes: Starling Marte doesn’t have any extra-base hits since June 23...It’s unclear whether or not Adam Duvall (intercostal soreness) is available...The well-rested players available in the Marlins bullpen (haven’t pitched in at least two days and were most recently used in short relief) are Anthony Bass, Anthony Bender, Preston Guilmet and Steven Okert. Also, Zach Thompson is fully stretched out—it’s just a question of whether he has recuperated from a minor illness.
