Welcome to Wednesday’s Marlins (33-45, +16 RD) vs. Phillies (37-40, -19 RD) game thread. It’s the start of the Joe Panik era.
Picks are only valid if submitted to us prior to first pitch.
The Fish Picks leaderboard is updated daily. Nobody picked a Perfect Game on Tuesday, but several of you correctly predicted eight of the 10 props. We now return to the traditional five-prop format.
At the end of each month, the Fish Picks points leader—whoever has the most total correct picks—will receive a 305 Cafecito Candle from our partners at 305 Candles! Shop with them now and save 10% on your order when you use discount code FISHSTRIPES at checkout.
- 2B Jazz Chisholm Jr.
- CF Starling Marte
- 1B Garrett Cooper
- RF Adam Duvall
- SS Miguel Rojas
- LF Jesús Sánchez
- 3B Joe Panik
- C Sandy Leon
- RHP Jordan Holloway (2021 season stats: 2.55 ERA, 3.26 FIP, 19.2 K%, 26.5 HardHit% in 17.2 IP)
Notes: Unsurprisingly, Luis Marté lost his roster spot via DFA to accommodate Panik. He is expected to clear waivers...Holloway is taking Cody Poteet’s turn in the rotation (Poteet re-aggravated his right knee sprain). It will be the tall right-hander’s first major league appearance since May 21. His only prior experience against the Phillies came out of the bullpen last year in his MLB debut...Starling Marte is 0-for-his-last-19, the longest hitless streak of his Marlins tenure...The well-rested pitchers available out of the Marlins bullpen (haven’t pitched in at least two days) are Richard Bleier, Ross Detwiler, Dylan Floro, Yimi García and Steven Okert.
- CF Odúbel Herrera
- 2B Jean Segura
- C J.T. Realmuto
- RF Bryce Harper
- LF Andrew McCutchen
- 3B Alec Bohm
- 1B Brad Miller
- SS Nick Maton
- RHP Aaron Nola (2021 season stats: 3.97 ERA, 3.43 FIP, 28.3 K%, 37.6 HardHit% in 90.2 IP)
Notes: Realmuto has a career .214 batting average and 27.2% strikeout rate when facing Marlins pitching. Those are the worst numbers that he has in both categories against any National League team...José Alvarado recently replaced Héctor Neris as the team’s closer. Not only did Alvarado have a rocky appearance on Tuesday, it took him a season-high 33 pitches to finish the game. His availability for tonight could be limited because of that.
