Notes: Hernandez had starts of 44, 55 and 79 pitches during his just-completed minor league rehab assignment. He’s not fully stretched out for starting duty, but Don Mattingly historically doesn’t trust him more than two times through a lineup anyway...Anthony Bender is on the verge of becoming the first Marlins pitcher ever to make it through the first 12 appearances of his MLB career without allowing an earned run...The well-rested pitchers available out of the Marlins bullpen (haven’t pitched in at least two days) are Adam Cimber, John Curtiss, Ross Detwiler and Zach Pop.
Pirates Lineup
- 2B Adam Frazier
- 3B Ke’Bryan Hayes
- CF Bryan Reynolds
- RF Gregory Polanco
- C Jacob Stallings
- LF Ben Gamel
- 1B Erik González
- SS Kevin Newman
- LHP Tyler Anderson (2021 season stats: 4.63 ERA, 4.39 FIP, 23.3 K%, 40.1 HardHit% in 56.1 IP)

Notes: The Marlins aren’t the only team receiving a key reinforcement coming off a lengthy injured list stint. Pirates third baseman and preseason NL Rookie of the Year favorite Ke’Bryan Hayes (left wrist inflammation) is being reinstated after a two-month absence...Adam Frazier leads MLB with 71 hits this season, but only two of those have cleared the fences.
