Notes: Pretty sure this is the first time in 2021 that a Marlins opponent has batter their pitcher in the No. 8 spot...Old friend Brad Hand hasn’t appeared in this series yet. The veteran closer is presumably available for more than three outs if necessary...Scherzer is remarkably striking out batters at a higher rate in 2021 than he ever has before. Will that keep up without the aid of sticky stuff? Impossible to say.

Marlins Lineup
- 2B Jazz Chisholm Jr.
- CF Starling Marte
- 1B Jesús Aguilar
- RF Garrett Cooper
- SS Miguel Rojas
- LF Jesús Sánchez
- C Jorge Alfaro
- 3B Jon Berti
- RHP Sandy Alcantara (2021 season stats: 2.93 ERA, 3.32 FIP, 22.2 K%, 35.6 HardHit% in 101.1 IP)

Notes: Adam Duvall will be available as a pinch-hitter. He’s got a career .243/.325/.500 slash line in that role (19% better than his overall OPS)...Alcantara can once again retake the MLB lead in innings pitched from Trevor Bauer today. A typical outing of his would ensure that Zack Wheeler and Gerrit Cole (also starting for their respective teams) don’t leapfrog him...The well-rested pitchers available in the Marlins bullpen (haven’t pitched in at least two days) are Anthony Bass, Richard Bleier, Adam Cimber, John Curtiss, Ross Detwiler and Zach Pop.
