What to watch for on...
Monday: Braxton Garrett’s second start of 2021.
- Garrett’s start vs. Colorado on June 9: 4.0 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 3 K.
- Against the Cardinals on Monday night, Garrett will have a tougher task than his first start against the Rockies. He’ll face off against Yadier Molina, Paul Goldschmidt, Nolan Arenado. Arenado crushes left-handed pitchers, slashing .359/.395/.692 on the season.
Tuesday: Happy Trevor Rogers Day!
- Rogers’ start vs. St. Louis on April 5: 4.0 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 4 BB, 6 K.
- His first start of the 2021 season was against the Cardinals and after a rocky first inning, Rogers hasn’t looked back. He’ll continue his case for Rookie of the Year against the trio mentioned above on Tuesday night.
Wednesday: Sandy Alcantara faces his former team.
- The Cardinals signed Alcantara in 2013 as an amateur free agent. He was traded to the Marlins in the 2017 Marcell Ozuna deal.
- Alcantara made it through eight innings in two of his last four starts. He’s pitched well since that disastrous outing against the Dodgers and there’s always an added motivation when facing your former team.
