Welcome to Saturday’s Marlins (28-35,+6 RD) vs. Braves (29-32, 0 RD) game thread. Although very improbable, a series sweep by the Fish would move them into a virtual tie with Atlanta in the NL East standings.
Buckle up for Kevin Millar Bobblehead Day:

Braves Lineup
- RF Ronald Acuña Jr.
- 1B Freddie Freeman
- 2B Ozzie Albies
- 3B Austin Riley
- SS Dansby Swanson
- LF Abraham Almonte
- C William Contreras
- CF Ender Inciarte
- LHP Max Fried (2021 season stats: 4.63 ERA, 3.64 FIP, 22.4 K%, 33.8 HardHit% in 44.2 IP)

Notes: Identical lineup used by the Braves on Friday...Two months ago, the last time Fried faced the Fish, he had a terrible outing—(4.0 IP, 9 H, 8 R, 7 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 2 HR)—and landed on the injured list with a hamstring strain. But since recovering from that, he has closely resembled the 2020 version of himself...Freddie Freeman won NL MVP honors with a .341/.462/.640 slash line in 60 games. Through the same amount of games this season, although he’s still homering at a high rate, his overall production pales in comparison (.228/.347/.442).
Marlins Lineup
- SS Jazz Chisholm Jr.
- CF Starling Marte
- 1B Jesús Aguilar
- LF Corey Dickerson
- RF Adam Duvall
- 3B Isan Díaz
- C Sandy León
- 2B Jon Berti
- RHP Zach Thompson

Notes: Jazz is in his usual leadoff spot for Bahamian Heritage Night...Thompson made his MLB debut on Monday against the Red Sox. His most effective pitch in that outing was his cutter...Expect Jorge Alfaro (left elbow contusion) to receive a full day off...The well-rested pitchers available out of the Marlins bullpen (haven’t pitched in at least two days) are Anthony Bender, Adam Cimber, John Curtiss, Ross Detwiler and Zach Pop.
