Welcome to Sunday’s Marlins (24-28, +8 RD) vs. Red Sox (32-20, +54 RD) game thread.

This game has been postponed due to rain.

Marlins Lineup

  1. 3B Jon Berti
  2. CF Starling Marte
  3. DH Jesus Aguilar
  4. 1B Garrett Cooper
  5. LF Corey Dickerson
  6. C Jorge Alfaro
  7. RF Magneuris Sierra
  8. SS Jose Devers
  9. 2B Luis Marte

RHP Sandy Alcantara (2021 season stats: 3.46 ERA, 3.61 FIP, 24.7 K%, 40.1 HardHit% in 65.0 IP)

Sandy Alcantara - 2021 Frequency of Pitches by Pitch Speed Baseball Savant

Notes: The Marlins dearly miss Jazz Chisholm Jr. (right ankle sprain) and Adam Duvall (left side soreness). Under most other circumstances, Chisholm’s injury would have landed him on the 10-day IL, but frankly, there aren’t any other useful infielders for the club to call up right now...The well-rested pitchers available out of the Marlins bullpen (haven’t pitched in at least two days) are Anthony Bass, Anthony Bender, John Curtiss, Ross Detwiler, Dylan Floro, Yimi Garcia and Zach Pop.

Red Sox Lineup

  1. CF Kiké Hernández
  2. DH Alex Verdugo
  3. SS Xander Bogaerts
  4. 3B Rafael Devers
  5. CF Danny Santana
  6. RF Hunter Renfroe
  7. C Christian Vázquez
  8. 2B Marwin González
  9. 1B Bobby Dalbec

LHP Eduardo Rodriguez (2021 season stats: 5.06 ERA, 3.51 FIP, 26.2 K%, 35.7 HardHit% 48.0 IP)

Eduardo Rodriguez - 2021 Frequency of Pitches by Pitch Speed Baseball Savant

Notes: Rodríguez has been in the majors for six full years, but all of that time was spent with the Red Sox in the American League, so he barely has any history with the Marlins or their current players.
