Welcome to Thursday’s Marlins (24-25, +16 RD) vs. Phillies (24-26, -18 RD) game thread. This rivalry has been lopsided as of late, with the Marlins winning six of the last seven series between them. Another victory today would make that seven out of eight while also propeling the Fish’s overall season record to the .500 mark.

During every Marlins game, join in on the Fish Picks prop bets fun. It’s always free to participate and the prizes are real. Please use this link!

Picks are only valid if submitted to us prior to first pitch.

The Fish Picks leaderboard is updated daily. Congrats to @dee_marlins, TealMarlin and ZoneofCrone, each of whom picked a Perfect Game on Wednesday.

At the end of each month, the Fish Picks points leader—whoever has the most total correct picks—will receive a t-shirt of their choice from our partners at Legends of Dade!

Phillies Lineup

  1. LF Roman Quinn
  2. 2B Brad Miller
  3. 1B Rhys Hoskins
  4. CF Odúbel Herrera
  5. 3B Alec Bohm
  6. RF Matt Joyce
  7. SS Ronald Torreyes
  8. C Rafael Marchan
  9. RHP Spencer Howard (2021 season stats: 7.36 ERA, 2.46 FIP, 36.1 K%, 25.0 HardHit% in 7.1 IP)

Notes: Once viewed as the No. 1 prospect in the Phillies organization, Howard is making his eighth career major league start (and his second of this season). He’s reliant on his four-seam fastball which represents 61% of his career pitch usage. Howard is not quite fully “stretched out” for starting duty, having thrown 68 pitches in his previous outing.

Marlins Lineup

  1. CF Magneuris Sierra
  2. SS Miguel Rojas
  3. LF Corey Dickerson
  4. RF Adam Duvall
  5. 1B Lewin Díaz
  6. C Sandy León
  7. 2B Isan Díaz
  8. 3B Jon Berti
  9. RHP Pablo López (2021 season stats: 2.73 ERA, 3.16 FIP, 23.6 K%, 28.2 HardHit% in 56.0 IP)
Pablo López - 2021 Frequency of Pitches by Pitch Speed Baseball Savant

Notes: López has been lights out at LoanDepot Park in 2021, allowing only two earned runs in 29 23 innings pitched at home...The Marlins believe both Jazz Chisholm Jr. (right ankle sprain) and Garrett Cooper (oblique tightness) can avoid the injured list, but they’ll likely be sidelined again today. That’s why Lewin Díaz is getting his first MLB opportunity of this season, newly recalled as the corresponding move for injured Nick Neidert (biceps inflammation)...The well-rested pitchers available out of the Marlins bullpen (haven’t pitched in at least two days) are Adam Cimber, John Curtiss, Dylan Floro and Zach Pop.

How to watch/listen/follow

First pitch is scheduled for 12:10 p.m. ET. No traditional television broadcast for this one! Watch on YouTube—Scott Braun, Dan Plesac, Cliff Floyd and Christina De Nicola will handle the call—or listen to the radio broadcast on 940 WINZ.

Ethan Budowsky (@ethanbudowsky) will be at LoanDepot Park as a credentialed writer and handle the game recap.
