Benny Montgomery is a 2021 outfielder from Lewisberry, Pennsylvania and plays his high school ball for the Red Land High School Patriots. Montgomery is one of the top and most exciting prospect to watch in this MLB Draft class. He played summer ball with the Team Elite 17U Scout Team. Benny Montgomery has already signed his NLI to play college baseball for the University of Virginia. Montgomery also played in the Perfect Game All-American Classic last summer.
At 6’4” 200 pounds, Montgomery is a very tall, athletic prospect with some of the best tools in the 2021 MLB Draft class. Montgomery has elite speed and is one of the fastest prospects in this draft class. The Perfect Game All-American has been clocked running a 6.32 60-yard dash in the past. Montgomery has also tremendous raw power with exit velocities record over 100 mph and he also won the Perfect Game All-American Classic Home Run Derby.
The Pennsylvania native has the potential and tools to be one of the best players to come out of this draft. On Perfect Game, Benny Montgomery is the 11th-ranked prospect and the third-ranked outfielder in the country. He’s also the top ranked high school player out of Pennsylvania.

Projection: First round draft pick
The Miami Marlins went all pitchers in the 2020 MLB Draft, so it would not be surprising if they prioritized the top available hitters this year when it’s their turn to pick. Red Land High School outfielder Benny Montgomery might be their guy.
In the past few drafts, the Marlins have used most of their early round picks on college players. However, the Fish are making their first round selection at #16. Some of the top college bats will already be off the board. The Marlins will need to adjust accordingly.
Benny Montgomery has a lot of great potential that could be really intriguing to the Marlins front office and amateur scouting department. The 6’4”, 200-pound outfielder has a rare speed-and-power combo that might be too good for the Fish to pass up on.
