Welcome to Thursday’s Marlins (1-5, -10 RD) vs. Mets (1-2, -4 RD) game thread.

Fish Picks has indeed returned for a third season! Thanks to the 148 unique users who participated during the first Marlins homestand here on fishstripes.com and the @fishstripes Twitter account. It’s always free to participate and the prizes are real.

Fans can find the props within game threads like this one or as the pinned tweet on our Twitter account. They will be posted at least four hours prior to the game’s scheduled first pitch (assuming both the Marlins and their opponent declare a probable starting pitcher by then). Generally, there will be five props per game, four about individual/team stats and the final one always being the moneyline pick (which team will win). Picks are only valid if commented or tweeted to us prior to first pitch.

Your goal every day is to “pick a perfect game” and choose the correct outcome for each prop. Whoever has the most perfect games each month receives a t-shirt of their choice from our partners at Legends of Dade!

The Fish Picks leaderboard will be updated daily.

Marlins Lineup

  1. LF Corey Dickerson
  2. SS Miguel Rojas
  3. CF Starling Marte
  4. 1B Jesús Aguilar
  5. 3B Brian Anderson
  6. RF Adam Duvall
  7. 2B Jazz Chisholm Jr.
  8. C Chad Wallach
  9. RHP Nick Neidert

Notes: It’s a quick turnaround for the Fish who didn’t arrive in New York until after midnight...No sugarcoating the fact that the first homestand was a letdown, but the ways in which they lost were unsurprising and the club’s 2021 goals still remain within reach...This will be Neidert’s first career major league start though he did appear four times in relief last season.

Mets Lineup

  1. CF Brandon Nimmo
  2. SS Francisco Lindor
  3. RF Michael Conforto
  4. 1B Pete Alonso
  5. LF Dominic Smith
  6. 3B Jonathan Villar
  7. 2B Jeff McNeil
  8. C James McCann
  9. RHP Taijuan Walker (2020 season stats: 2.70 ERA, 4.82 FIP, 22.2 K%, 32.2 HardHit% in 53.1 IP)
Baseball Savant

Notes: In parts of eight MLB seasons, Walker has only faced the Marlins once, surrendering seven runs (only three earned) in 3 23 innings of work near the end of the 2017 campaign.
