Welcome to Tuesday’s Marlins (1-3, -1 RD) vs. Cardinals (2-2, -6 RD) game thread.

Fish Picks has indeed returned for a third season! After receiving picks from 200-plus unique users in 2020 on fishstripes.com and the @fishstripes Twitter account, we are aiming for even more engagement. It’s always free to participate and the prizes are real.

Fans can find the props within game threads like this one or as the pinned tweet on our Twitter account. They will be posted at least four hours prior to the game’s scheduled first pitch (assuming both the Marlins and their opponent declare a probable starting pitcher by then). Generally, there will be five props per game, four about individual/team stats and the final one always being the moneyline pick (which team will win). Picks are only valid if commented or tweeted to us prior to first pitch.

Your goal every day is to “pick a perfect game” and choose the correct outcome for each prop. Whoever has the most perfect games each month receives a t-shirt of their choice from our partners at Legends of Dade!

The Fish Picks leaderboard will be updated daily.

Cardinals Lineup

  1. RF Tommy Edman
  2. 1B Paul Goldschmidt
  3. 3B Nolan Arenado
  4. SS Paul DeJong
  5. 2B Matt Carpenter
  6. C Yadier Molina
  7. LF Tyler O’Neill
  8. CF Dylan Carlson
  9. RHP John Gant (2020 season stats: 2.40 ERA, 2.19 FIP, 29.5 K%, 47.2 HardHit% in 15.0 IP)
Baseball Savant

Notes: Gant pitched exclusively out of the bullpen for the 2019-2020 Cardinals where he showed an outstanding ability to avoid barrels, as a result allowing only four home runs in 81 13 innings. He has recently made some mechanical tweaks as mentioned here...Former Marlins Minor League Player of the Year Austin Dean went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts on Monday in his first “revenge game” opportunity against the team that traded him away. He’s being platooned and unlikely to start in the remaining games of this series.

Marlins Lineup

  1. LF Corey Dickerson
  2. CF Starling Marte
  3. 1B Garrett Cooper
  4. RF Adam Duvall
  5. 3B Brian Anderson
  6. 2B Jazz Chisholm Jr.
  7. C Jorge Alfaro
  8. SS Miguel Rojas
  9. RHP Sandy Alcantara (2020 season stats: 3.00 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, 22.7 K%, 32.5 Hard Hit% in 42.0 IP)
Baseball Savant

Notes: Cooper has been activated from the COVID-related injured list after a one-game absence...Don Mattingly’s preferred high-leverage relievers—Anthony Bass, Yimi García and Dylan Floro—are well-rested. Expect to see all three of them if the Marlins are clinging to a narrow lead entering the late innings of the game.
