Welcome to Saturday’s Marlins (8-11, -1 RD) vs. Giants (13-7, +12) game thread. Barring a postseason matchup, this four-game set will be the final meeting between these teams in 2021.

During every Marlins game, join in on the Fish Picks prop bets fun. It’s always free to participate and the prizes are real.

To make it possible for us to count all of your individual picks in an efficient manner (instead of just the “perfect games”), we are transitioning to this Fish Picks submission form. For the rest of April, we will still accept picks here in the comments and at the @fishstripes Twitter account, but the submission form becomes the new normal on May 1. Picks are only valid if submitted to us prior to first pitch.

At the end of each month, the Fish Picks points leader will receive a t-shirt of their choice from our partners at Legends of Dade!

The Fish Picks leaderboard will be updated daily.

Notes: At least five Marlins players/staff participating in minor league spring training in Jupiter have tested positive for COVID-19. Although obviously distressing, the big league team should not be directly impacted—the club’s top reinforcements are either in San Francisco right now as part of the taxi squad or based in Jacksonville with the Fish Tank...Devers is making his major league debut at 21 years and 138 days old. He’ll become the youngest Marlins player to appear in a regular season game since the late, great José Fernández in 2013...Jazz Chisholm Jr. is now tied for the team lead with four home runs, in addition to having sole possession of first in stolen bases (four) and total bases (34)...Corey Dickerson is seeking his 200th career double, but it seems that I’m jinxing him by continuing to mention that every day. Let’s forget about that pending milestone until Dickerson actually gets there.

Giants Lineup

  1. 2B Tommy La Stella
  2. RF Mike Yastrzemski
  3. 3B Wilmer Flores
  4. 1B Brandon Belt
  5. LF Alex Dickerson
  6. C Buster Posey
  7. SS Brandon Crawford
  8. CF Mauricio Dubón
  9. RHP Kevin Gausman (2021 season stats: 2.45 ERA, 3.37 FIP, 22.6 K%, 34.3 HardHit% in 25.2 IP)

Notes: Evan Longoria (mild left hamstring tightness) is day-to-day...The Giants will try to stay away from using their closer, Jake McGee. He is not accustomed to pitching on back-to-back-to-back days (last did it in April 2018)...Alex Cobb is the only pitcher in the majors who has thrown more splitters than Gausman has this season (116). Why is that worth mentioning? Because Marlins batters have seen fewer splitters this season—only six total pitches!—than any other team.

Career stats for active Marlins players vs. Kevin Gausman
