Welcome to Saturday’s Marlins (6-7, +3 RD) vs. Giants (8-5, +3 RD) game thread.

Fish Picks has indeed returned for a third season! Whether you enter picks here on fishstripes.com or at the @fishstripes Twitter account, it’s always free to participate and the prizes are real.

Fans can find the props within game threads like this one or as the pinned tweet on our Twitter account. They will be posted at least four hours prior to the game’s scheduled first pitch (assuming both the Marlins and their opponent declare a probable starting pitcher by then). Generally, there will be five props per game, four about individual/team stats and the final one always being the moneyline pick (which team will win). Picks are only valid if commented or tweeted to us prior to first pitch.

Your goal every day is to “pick a perfect game” and choose the correct outcome for each prop. Whoever has the most perfect games each month receives a t-shirt of their choice from our partners at Legends of Dade!

The Fish Picks leaderboard will be updated daily.

Giants Lineup

  1. 2B Tommy La Stella
  2. RF Mike Yastrzemski
  3. 1B Brandon Belt
  4. LF Alex Dickerson
  5. 3B Evan Longoria
  6. SS Brandon Crawford
  7. C Buster Posey
  8. CF Steven Duggar
  9. RHP Aaron Sanchez (2021 season stats: 2.70 ERA, 3.63 FIP, 17.5 K%, 38.7 HardHit% in 10.0 IP)
Baseball Savant

Notes: It’s an interesting Giants offense. Although their overall production is very pedestrian, they use 4.21 pitches per plate appearance, on pace to be the highest single-season average ever recorded for an MLB team...Sanchez is off to a decent start in 2021, but he is unrecognizable for those who remember him as a rising star with the Blue Jays a half-decade ago. The right-hander’s fastball velocity is down from its peak of 95-plus to 91 and his curveball accounts for one-third of his total pitch usage.

Marlins Lineup

  1. LF Corey Dickerson
  2. CF Starling Marte
  3. 1B Jesús Aguilar
  4. RF Adam Duvall
  5. 3B Brian Anderson
  6. 2B Jazz Chisholm Jr.
  7. SS Miguel Rojas
  8. C Jorge Alfaro
  9. RHP Sandy Alcantara (2021 season stats: 2.45 ERA, 2.31 FIP, 28.0 K%, 40.0 HardHit% in 18.1 IP)
Baseball Savant

Notes: Alcantara has not allowed a single barreled ball through three starts, as defined by Statcast. He has held his opponents homerless...It’s hard to find anybody who’s better in a high-leverage situation than Yimi García. He enters the day with the fourth-highest Win Probability Added among all pitchers in the majors (0.87 WPA), according to FanGraphs...Tonight, Jazz Chisholm Jr. can match Mike Lowell’s Marlins rookie record of six consecutive games with an extra-base hit.
