Welcome to Saturday’s Marlins (1-6, -11 RD) vs. Mets (2-2, -3 RD) game thread.

Fish Picks has indeed returned for a third season! Whether you enter picks here on fishstripes.com or at the @fishstripes Twitter account, it’s always free to participate and the prizes are real.

Fans can find the props within game threads like this one or as the pinned tweet on our Twitter account. They will be posted at least four hours prior to the game’s scheduled first pitch (assuming both the Marlins and their opponent declare a probable starting pitcher by then). Generally, there will be five props per game, four about individual/team stats and the final one always being the moneyline pick (which team will win). Picks are only valid if commented or tweeted to us prior to first pitch.

Your goal every day is to “pick a perfect game” and choose the correct outcome for each prop. Whoever has the most perfect games each month receives a t-shirt of their choice from our partners at Legends of Dade!

The Fish Picks leaderboard will be updated daily.

Marlins Lineup

  1. LF Corey Dickerson
  2. CF Starling Marte
  3. 1B Jesús Aguilar
  4. RF Garrett Cooper
  5. 3B Brian Anderson
  6. 2B Jazz Chisholm Jr.
  7. SS Miguel Rojas
  8. C Chad Wallach
  9. LHP Trevor Rogers (2020 season stats: 6.11 ERA, 4.33 FIP, 30.0 K%, 39.5 HardHit% in 28.0 IP)
Baseball Savant

Notes: Jorge Alfaro, who hasn’t played since April 6, was scratched from the lineup within an hour of first pitch due to lingering left hamstring tightness. It would be unsurprising at this point if he winded up going on the 10-day injured list...There are 18 players around Major League Baseball who have single-handedly out-homered the Marlins this season. Not ideal! Friday’s podcast detailed how the combination of passing on hittable pitches early in the count and being unable to pull the ball have prevented them from putting crooked numbers on the scoreboard...Rogers had an adventurous opening inning in his 2021 debut, struggling to throw strikes but also topping out at 98.0 miles per hour (maxed out at 96.2 mph last season). As Devan Fink of FanGraphs writes, many other pitchers have enjoyed substantial velocity bumps of their own.
