After the Marlins beat the Yankees Friday night to clinch second place in the National League East and punch their ticket to the NL Wild Card Series, members of the team took to Instagram and Twitter to celebrate and reflect on defying the odds.
A small sampling of what they shared...
- Shortstop Miguel Rojas:
For moments like this is why you work every single day, you grind, you sacrifice and you play this game. This is just the beginning of what is ahead but man it feels good to be back in the Playoff Miami !!! Let’s enjoy this moment and prepare for what’s next. #JuntosMiami ❤️ pic.twitter.com/hiCKSd1gzH

- Third baseman Brian Anderson:
It really happened: @AndersonBrian01 logged into his Twitter account last night and actually used it. Tweeted something to the effect of, "I've never been closer to a group of guys in my life."

There was a typo and he deleted it(?) but what a moment, folks.
- Radio broadcaster Glenn Geffner:
Congrats to Bruce Sherman, Derek Jeter, Michael Hill and everyone in Baseball Operations. Also to Don Mattingly and his staff, who deserve so much credit. And to the 61 guys who’ve worn the uniform. In a season like no other, they’ve accomplished something very special. #Marlins

I’m so proud of the people in this picture and many others that made this picture possible.

I’m blessed to be able to witness this and put a few captions on it along the way.
They are the story of the 2020 baseball season...and there are chapters still to be written. https://t.co/kqQPzvUzLV

This was the first thing I thought about as I woke up this morning...

- VP of communications & broadcasting Jason Latimer:
It would be easy to go back and call people out for doubting this organization. My hope is that S. Florida can look upon their hometown team with pride, begin to trust us, and get behind this great group of guys... because we still have Work To Do! #JuntosMiami https://t.co/hfGfopiiAk
— Jason Latimer (@latimer_jason) September 26, 2020
- And why the hell not, even former team president David Samson classily weighed in:
Congrats to the manager of the year and executive of the year. Both from the Miami Marlins. Thank you for ending the playoff drought (that I sadly had a major part in causing) for the great fans of South Florida. Now, win the whole damn thing!! #marlins #MLBPlayOffs
