Welcome to Wednesday’s Marlins (24-22) vs. Red Sox (18-31) game thread. The Marlins’ magic number for clinching a postseason berth is 11.

Fish Picks is BACK and better than ever! Our free-to-play daily prop bets contest is open to all fans. Courtesy of a new Fish Stripes partnership with Fantom Drip, weekly points leaders will win their choice of a Marlins face covering (five different varieties available) or the exclusive Fish Stripes design. The Fish Picks leaderboard will update daily to let you know where you stand.

Red Sox Lineup

  1. CF Alex Verdugo
  2. 3B Rafael Devers
  3. SS Xander Bogaerts
  4. DH J.D. Martinez
  5. C Christian Vázquez
  6. RF Yairo Muñoz
  7. 1B Bobby Dalbec
  8. LF Michael Chavis
  9. 2B Christian Arroyo

P Mike Kickham

Notes: The mighty Martinez enters the game in a 1-for-28 slump. He’s due to come alive sooner or later, so the Marlins should pitching to him carefully during this series like they ordinarily would...Kickham spent the previous three seasons in the Marlins organization, but never got called up to The Show. He struck out eight Rays batters over four innings last Thursday in his first start for the Red Sox.

Marlins Lineup

  1. SS Miguel Rojas
  2. DH Jesús Aguilar
  3. 3B Brian Anderson
  4. 1B Garrett Cooper
  5. RF Lewis Brinson
  6. C Jorge Alfaro
  7. LF Sean Rodríguez
  8. 2B Jazz Chisholm
  9. CF Monte Harrison

P Trevor Rogers (6.50 ERA, 5.42 FIP, 31.3 K%, 37.5 Hard Hit% in 18.0 IP)

Baseball Savant

Notes: Rodríguez will finally debut for the Fish. He’s been a .246/.345/.411 (111 wRC+) career hitter vs. left-handed pitching. Mattingly’s experimenting continues in an effort to improve against lefty starters (Miami has lost 10 of their last 12 vs. them)...This is Harrison’s 10th game since being recalled from the alternate training site, but only his second start...Because Kickham isn’t fully stretched out as a starter, you can expect a pitching change in the middle innings no matter what. The Marlins could get multiple plate appearances out of Dickerson and Joyce if the outcome of the game is in doubt.
