Welcome to Saturday’s Marlins (7-1) vs. Mets (5-9) game thread. These teams will play their entire season series against one another over the next three weeks (10 games in 20 days).

Fish Picks is BACK and better than ever! Our free-to-play daily prop bets contest is open to all fans. I was thrilled to see so many participants during the season-opening series against the Phillies. Courtesy of a new Fish Stripes partnership with Fantom Drip, weekly points leaders will win their choice of a Marlins face covering (five different varieties available). First winner to be selected based on July 24-August 9 point totals.

The Fish Picks leaderboard will update daily to let you know where you stand.

Marlins Lineup

  1. SS Jonathan Villar
  2. 2B Jon Berti
  3. 1B Jesús Aguilar
  4. LF Corey Dickerson
  5. 3B Brian Anderson
  6. C Francisco Cervelli
  7. RF Lewis Brinson
  8. DH Logan Forsythe
  9. CF Monte Harrison

LHP Dan Castano (2019 Double-A stats: 3.35 ERA, 2.53 FIP, 20.7 K% in 86.0 IP)

Notes: Castano—aka “Italian Stallion”—is set to become the ninth player to make his MLB debut with the Marlins during this surreal 2020 regular season; for perspective, 10 players made debuts for last season’s club. He joins Sandy Alcantara, Zac Gallen and Magneuris Sierra as prospects received from the Cardinals in the Marcell Ozuna trade who have gone on to contribute for the Fish in the big leagues (Gallen has since been traded for shortstop Jazz Chisholm)...The Marlins bullpen was decimated by the COVID-19 outbreak. The low-profile relievers that they’ve brought up recently are understandably being lauded for performing well, improving the ‘pen’s ERA to 2.97 for the season. I’d just advise you to temper expectations moving forward—that 4.90 FIP screams regression.

Mets Lineup

  1. SS Amed Rosario
  2. LF Jeff McNeil
  3. 3B J.D. Davis
  4. DH Pete Alonso
  5. RF Michael Conforto
  6. C Wilson Ramos
  7. 1B Dominic Smith
  8. 2B Brian Dozier
  9. CF Billy Hamilton

P David Peterson (3.86 ERA, 3.00 FIP, 23.4 K%, 24.2 Hard Hit% in 11.2 IP)

Baseball Savant

Notes: The Mets have been held to three runs or fewer in five of their last six games.

How to watch/listen/follow
