Welcome to Wednesday’s Marlins (14-11) vs. Mets (12-16) game thread.

Fish Picks is BACK and better than ever! Our free-to-play daily prop bets contest is open to all fans. Courtesy of a new Fish Stripes partnership with Fantom Drip, weekly points leaders will win their choice of a Marlins face covering (five different varieties available) or the exclusive Fish Stripes design.

Also, we will soon be announcing a special prize for the overall 2020 regular season points leader. Stay tuned!

The Fish Picks leaderboard will update daily to let you know where you stand.

Marlins Lineup

  1. CF Jon Berti
  2. RF Matt Joyce
  3. DH Jesús Aguilar
  4. LF Corey Dickerson
  5. 3B Brian Anderson
  6. 1B Lewin Díaz
  7. C Jorge Alfaro
  8. 2B Jonathan Villar
  9. SS Miguel Rojas

P Elieser Hernandez (2.29 ERA, 3.36 FIP, 32.9 K%, 34.8 Hard Hit% in 19.2 IP)

Baseball Savant

Notes: Conspicuously absent from the doubleheader, Magneuris Sierra is unfortunately headed to the injured list with a right hamstring strain, the Marlins announced. The severity of the strain will determine whether or not he has enough time to rehab for a September return. Sierra is currently slashing .278/.372/.417 with a career-best 120 wRC+ while stealing four bases...Even if the Marlins are fortunate enough to outscore the Mets while deGrom is in the game, they’ll have a tough task holding onto that lead. Brad Boxberger and Brandon Kintzler each worked four of the previous five days. Don’t expect either of them to be available.

Mets Lineup

  1. CF Brandon Nimmo
  2. RF Michael Conforto
  3. 3B J.D. Davis
  4. LF Dominic Smith
  5. DH Robinson Canó
  6. 1B Pete Alonso
  7. 2B Jeff McNeil
  8. C Wilson Ramos
  9. SS Amed Rosario

P Jacob deGrom (1.93 ERA, 2.12 FIP, 32.1 K%, 36.2 Hard Hit% in 28.0 IP)

Baseball Savant

Notes: Nimmo and Davis were the only Mets to record extra-base hits during the 14 innings played on Tuesday...Coaches Gary DiSarcina and Hensley Meulens are not currently with the Mets. Their absences are potentially related to the team’s COVID-19 incident in Miami last week. If so, we wish them speedy recoveries!...As long as the Marlins maintain control of one of the top two spots in the NL East standings, they’re assured a playoff berth. Which of the non-Braves teams are you most worried about heating up and passing them in the standings? Let’s hear from you on Twitter or in the comments.

How to watch/listen/follow

The first pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET. Watch on FOX Sports Florida and via MLB.TV or listen on 940 WINZ. Broadcasters will be calling the action remotely from South Florida.
