Welcome to Monday’s Marlins (9-6) vs. Mets (9-14) game thread.

Fish Picks is BACK and better than ever! Our free-to-play daily prop bets contest is open to all fans. Courtesy of a new Fish Stripes partnership with Fantom Drip, weekly points leaders will win their choice of a Marlins face covering (five different varieties available) or the exclusive Fish Stripes design.

The Week 2 competition went down to the wire—congrats to Twitter user @LV4tuna! Point totals have now been reset for Week 3, so it’s as good a time as any to join in.

The Fish Picks leaderboard will update daily to let you know where you stand.

Mets Lineup

  1. CF Brandon Nimmo
  2. DH Jeff McNeil
  3. 3B J.D. Davis
  4. RF Michael Conforto
  5. 2B Robinson Canó
  6. 1B Pete Alonso
  7. LF Dominic Smith
  8. C Wilson Ramos
  9. SS Amed Rosario

P Robert Gsellman (2019 stats: 4.66 ERA, 4.13 FIP, 21.7 K%, 30.9 Hard Hit% in 63.2 IP)

Baseball Savant

Notes: Much like Robbie Erlin on Sunday, Gsellman is not fully stretched out for starting duty. The Mets will wind up using a handful of different pitchers during this game. For what it’s worth, the right-hander has allowed more career home runs against the Marlins (six) than any other MLB team.

Marlins Lineup

  1. SS Jonathan Villar
  2. DH Jesús Aguilar
  3. LF Matt Joyce
  4. 3B Brian Anderson
  5. 1B Lewin Díaz
  6. C Francisco Cervelli
  7. 2B Eddy Alvarez
  8. RF Jon Berti
  9. CF Magneuris Sierra

P Jordan Yamamoto (9.82 ERA, 8.59 FIP, 25.0 K%, 68.0 Hard Hit% in 7.1 IP)

Baseball Savant

Notes: Yamamoto seems to be assured another start during Saturday’s doubleheader no matter what, but he will need to have a respectable outing tonight to earn opportunities beyond that. His 68.0 Hard Hit% this season is currently worst in the majors among pitchers with at least 25 batted balls allowed...There’s additional pressure on Yams to provide some length with rookie Humberto Mejía reportedly starting on Tuesday (and no scheduled off days for the team until Aug. 31)...The Marlins are a perfect 6-0 this season when Sierra is in the starting lineup.

How to watch/listen/follow

First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET. Watch on FOX Sports Florida and via MLB.TV or listen on 940 WINZ.
