Welcome to Saturday’s Marlins (1-0) vs. Phillies (0-1) game thread. We have Opening Day reaction and analysis for you in written, video and audio form.

Fish Picks is BACK and better than ever! Our free-to-play daily prop bets contest is open to all fans. I was thrilled to see so many participants during the exhibition games. Courtesy of a new Fish Stripes partnership with Fantom Drip, weekly points leaders will win their choice of a Marlins face covering (first winner to be selected based on July 24-August 2 point totals).

The Fish Picks leaderboard will update daily to let you know where you stand.

Marlins Lineup

  1. 2B Jonathan Villar
  2. DH Jesús Aguilar
  3. LF Corey Dickerson
  4. RF Harold Ramírez
  5. 3B Brian Anderson
  6. 1B Garrett Cooper
  7. SS Miguel Rojas
  8. C Chad Wallach
  9. CF Jon Berti

P Caleb Smith (2019 stats: 4.52 ERA, 5.11 FIP, 26.0 K%, 35.7 Hard Hit% in 153.1 IP)

Baseball Savant

Notes: The Marlins enter the day with 12.2% playoff odds, according to FanGraphs, their highest mark since August 28, 2017...Dr. K pitched twice in Philadelphia last season, including one quality start and one clunker. Look for him to add occasional curveballs to his pitch mix in 2020...Earlier this week, Don Mattingly identified Brad Boxberger, Yimi García and Brandon Kintzler as his most-trusted relievers, and they were the only relievers used on Friday. This game should give us a first look at several of the other options.

Phillies Lineup

  1. LF Andrew McCutchen
  2. 1B Rhys Hoskins
  3. RF Bryce Harper
  4. C J.T. Realmuto
  5. 3B Jean Segura
  6. SS Didi Gregorius
  7. 2B Scott Kingery
  8. DH Phil Gosselin
  9. CF Roman Quinn

P Zack Wheeler (2019 stats: 3.96 ERA, 3.48 FIP, 23.5 K%, 31.6 Hard Hit% in 195.1 IP)

Baseball Savant

Notes: Wheeler has owned Brian Anderson in 20 career plate appearances (.167/.200/.222, 5 K)...Harper was remarkably productive against left-handed pitching last season (.283/.366/.583, 15 HR in 213 PA).

How to watch/listen/follow

The game gets underway at 4:05 p.m. ET. Watch on FOX Sports Florida and via MLB.TV or listen on 940 WINZ. All Marlins team broadcasters will remain in South Florida, calling the game remotely.
