Welcome to Wednesday’s Marlins vs. Braves game thread. On the heels of Tuesday’s chaotic exhibition, the Fish remain in Atlanta for another tune-up game before the real action gets underway in Philadelphia on Friday night.
Fish Picks is BACK and better than ever! Our free-to-play daily prop bets contest is open to all fans. I was thrilled to see so many participants for the previous game. Courtesy of a new Fish Stripes partnership with Fantom Drip, weekly points leaders will win their choice of a Marlins face covering (first winner to be selected based on July 24-August 2 point totals).
The Fish Picks leaderboard will update daily to let you know where you stand.
Marlins Lineup
- DH Jonathan Villar
- 1B Jesús Aguilar
- LF Corey Dickerson
- RF Harold Ramírez
- 3B Brian Anderson
- 2B Isan Díaz
- C Jorge Alfaro
- SS Miguel Rojas
- CF Jon Berti
P Pablo López (2019 stats: 5.09 ERA, 4.28 FIP, 20.3 K%, 35.7 Hard Hit% in 111.1 IP)
Notes: Pitching coach Mel Stottlemyre Jr. spoke glowingly about López’s Summer Camp preparation and performance. He will be incorporating a cutter into his pitch mix this season, so that gives us something specific to watch for...Want more reaction from the previous game? Take a listen to Red Garcia and Alex Contreras on the Fish Stripes podcast feed.
Braves Lineup
- CF Ronald Acuña Jr.
- 2B Ozzie Albies
- 1B Freddie Freeman
- LF Marcell Ozuna
- DH Matt Adams
- RF Adam Duvall
- SS Dansby Swanson
- 3B Austin Riley
- C Alex Jackson
P Kyle Wright (2019 stats: 8.69 ERA, 6.16 FIP, 19.4 K%, 42.6 Hard Hit% in 19.2 IP)
Notes: Wright’s only regular season matchup against Miami was a rare win for the Fish over the Braves. It was a quality start overall, but Jorge Alfaro took him deep and so did Peter O’Brien (who’s in the Braves player pool this season)...Even though Adams just signed with Atlanta a couple days ago, these back-to-back starting nods strongly suggest that he will be on their season-opening 30-man active roster.
How to watch/listen/follow
The game gets underway at 4:10 p.m. ET. Watch on FOX Sports Florida and via MLB.TV or listen on 940 WINZ.
