Fish Bites Episode 74: Marlins Dream Draft

It’s Fish Stripes vs. Fish Army in a competition to build the best possible long-term lineup using only current Marlins players.

Jacob Carrion and Shane Sutton run one of the most engaging accounts on Marlins Twitter, but behind all the memes and trolling is plenty of Marlins knowledge. The Fish Army co-founders team up against Ely on this episode for the first-ever “Marlins Dream Draft” (10:24), a 12-round selection process to stack your lineup for the next 10 seasons. Every active player in the organization is eligible. Listen to the full conversation and let us know who put together the better squad!

Enjoy Episode 74!

This exercise wasn’t as simple as taking the best available players—they had to form a believable lineup. Both sides were required to address the following positions: C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, OF (three), DH, SP, RP and a wild card (any position).

Here are the results (Fish Army had the first overall pick):

  1. SS Jazz Chisholm | 3B Brian Anderson
  2. C Jorge Alfaro | SP Sixto Sánchez
  3. SP Edward Cabrera | 1B Lewin Díaz
  4. OF JJ Bleday | 2B Jonathan Villar
  5. OF Monte Harrison | OF Jesús Sánchez
  6. DH Jerar Encarnación | WC Max Meyer
  7. RP Alex Vesia | SS Miguel Rojas
  8. OF Corey Dickerson | OF Kameron Misner
  9. 1B Garrett Cooper | RP Jorge Guzman
  10. 2B Isan Díaz | OF Víctor Mesa Jr.
  11. WC Braxton Garrett | DH Peyton Burdick

3B José Devers | C Will Banfield
