Sunday night at 9 p.m. ET, self-proclaimed “decent” MLB The Show player Ryne Stanek will make his Players League debut representing the Marlins. His NL East rivals are Luke Jackson (Braves), Jeff McNeil (Mets), Juan Soto (Nationals) and Rhys Hoskins. The regular season runs throughout the month of April, benefiting Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

Here is the league’s upcoming schedule. You can follow the livestream on Twitch (@ohpigsooie5). Moving forward, summaries of Stanek’s performance will be included in these weekly articles.

Baseball-Reference

2020 season record: 10-7

Baseball-Reference is simulating the entire 2020 MLB schedule using the game Out of the Park Baseball 21 (OOTP 21). Results are published daily at around noon ET.

Lots of close contests for the Marlins this week, including three which required extra innings.

Shortstop Miguel Rojas has been nothing short of spectacular. He is tied for second in the National League in Wins Above Replacement (1.1 WAR) and third in the batting title race (.379 BA).

On the pitching side, Trevor Rogers is arguably Miami’s best bullpen piece, transitioning smoothly to the majors despite no Triple-A experience. Caleb Smith is far and away the club’s strikeout leader, adding 10 more en route to Sunday’s victory.

Slow out of the gates, Jorge Alfaro and Matt Joyce could be staring at reduced playing time in the near future if their bats don’t heat up.

Dropping three of four during the Braves series has temporarily cost the Marlins the division lead, but their 10-7 record still represents a pleasant surprise.

Strat-O-Matic

2020 season record: 7-10

The Strat-O-Matic 2020 Season Simulation spits outs its daily details at 2 p.m. ET.

Smith and Pablo López form a dominant 1-2 punch atop the Marlins starting rotation—only seven runs allowed in their 43 23 innings (1.44 ERA).

Otherwise, however, it was a frustrating week. The Fish put up an eight spot on Monday, but only scored seven in all of their other games combined.
