The latest Marlins-related news nuggets and analysis:
- Alex Cora has been re-hired as Red Sox manager, fresh off serving his one-year MLB suspension. James Rowson, who was a candidate for that job, will presumably return to the Marlins for another season as bench coach (though the team hasn’t announced its 2021 coaching staff yet).
- Marlins officials are “intrigued” by the possibility of Rowson being Don Mattingly’s eventual successor, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.
- On Friday, multi-billionaire Steve Cohen closed the deal to become the new owner of the Mets, and one of his first orders of business was to clean out the front office. Former Marlins minor league field coordinator Dick Scott is potentially on their radar. Ditto for former president of baseball operations Michael Hill.
