Welcome to Thursday’s Marlins (1-0) vs. Cubs (0-1) game thread for Game 2 of the 2020 Wild Card Series. Unfortunately, as first reported by Andy Slater, the game has been postponed due to rain in the forecast.
Here’s a recap of the series opener:
The Fish Picks contest is continuing for these critical games! Free-to-play daily prop bets for all fans to make. Prizes includes these new Marlins-themed t-shirts.

- LF Corey Dickerson
- 2B Jon Berti
- DH Jesús Aguilar
- 3B Brian Anderson
- 1B Garrett Cooper
- RF Matt Joyce
- SS Miguel Rojas
- CF Magneuris Sierra
- C Chad Wallach
P Sixto Sánchez (3.46 ERA, 3.50 FIP, 20.9 K%, 33.9 Hard Hit% in 39.0 IP)
Notes: In the aftermath of Starling Marte’s left pinkie injury, most Fish Stripes Twitter followers endorsed Lewis Brinson to take his place in center field. He will presumably pinch-hit for Sierra later in the game if the Cubs bring in a left-hander from the bullpen...During his most recent start, Sixto allowed baserunners on each of his four main pitches (sinker, four-seamer, changeup and slider). But the characteristics of those pitches were more or less the same as what we’ve grown accustomed to, giving the Fish confidence to start him in this critical situation.
What makes Sixto Sánchez's changeup so unhittable?@markdero7 dove into the @Marlins hurler's signature pitch on #MLBCentral. #JuntosMiami pic.twitter.com/wLD8bYKcke— MLB Network (@MLBNetwork) October 1, 2020
- CF Ian Happ
- 1B Anthony Rizzo
- DH Willson Contreras
- LF Kyle Schwarber
- 3B Kris Bryant
- RF Jason Heyward
- SS Javier Báez
- 2B David Bote
- C Victor Caratini
P Yu Darvish (2.01 ERA, 2.23 FIP, 31.3 K%, 34.0 Hard Hit% in 76.0 IP)
Notes: Bote is the only new name for the Cubs who didn’t start Game 1...The numbers speak for themselves—Darvish is among the best handful of starting pitchers in the majors. However, he is especially vulnerable to the running game. Opponents have a 91.9% success rate (34-for-37) attempting to steal against him since he signed with the Cubs in 2018.
How to watch/listen/follow

The game itself will be televised on ABC with a crew of Jon “Boog” Sciambi, Jesse Rogers and Hall of Famer Chipper Jones, or you can listen on 940 WINZ.
