Fish Bites Episode 57: 2020 important Marlins dates

An overview of this year’s most significant deadlines and special events.

The Marlins continue to tinker with the edges of their 40-man roster. Ely reacts to the Austin Dean-Diowill Burgos trade (2:30), the Stephen Tarpley-James Nelson trade (7:10) and the annual hitters camp in Jupiter (15:50). The rest of the episode browses through about 20 important dates during the 2020 calendar year that will influence how the Marlins manage their young talent and approach decisions about their future (21:00).

Feb. 8—FanFest at Marlins Park, 3-7 p.m.

Feb. 22—First Grapefruit League game vs. Mets

Mar. 26—Opening Day vs. Phillies, 4:10 p.m. first pitch

Apr. 11—Earliest date minor leaguers can debut without being able to gain a full year of MLB service time

Jun. 10-12—MLB Draft (held in Omaha, NE)

Jul. 2—Start of 2020-21 international amateur signing period

Jul. 31—MLB trade deadline

Sept. 1—Active rosters expand from 26 to 28

Sept. 27—Final game of 2019 regular season vs. Mets, 3:10 p.m. first pitch
