After designating Austin Dean for assignment last week, the club found a familiar trade partner for him in the St. Louis Cardinals.

40-man roster remains at 40.
The Marlins got a Dominican teenager by the name of Diowill Burgos in return, forcing MLB Pipeline to update their prospect rankings to accomodate him.
MLB Pipeline updated their Marlins Top 30 list, removing Tristan Pompey (previously No. 26), bumping up Will Stewart, Victor Mesa Jr., Peyton Burdick and Humberto Mejia 1 spot each, and sneaking in Diowill Burgos at No. 30 https://t.co/1j9O5ki4vZ

While it’s great to see the players are buying into “the process” of the rebuild and what the Jeter regime has been doing to create a competitive franchise, it’s even better to see the payoff.
Another departure:
Catcher Bryan Holaday, who caught 104 games over the past two seasons with the Marlins, signed a minor-league deal with the Orioles.
Podcasts galore:
Episode 25 of Earning Their Stripes is out! The aforementioned MLB Pipeline ranks guest Braxton Garrett the seventh-best prospect in the system. Hear what he has to say about the other top prospects with whom he has the privilege to play:

Fish Bites has also kept tabs on what other Marlins players have been up to in the offseason, especially those like Miguel Rojas and Jarlin Garcia, who have been playing winterball at a championship level.
We also have a new Fish Bites podcast which discusses some free-agent options for the Fish, particularly as the bullpen is concerned.
And to close, some humor amidst the latest baseball scandal:
Don Mattingly has outlasted A.J. Hinch and Alex Cora at his managerial gig, just like everybody predicted at this time a year ago
