For many players within the Marlins organization, baseball never stops. Just like last year, Fish Stripes will be consistently updating the whereabouts of your favorite Fish during the offseason. At FishStripes.com/offseason, you can find updates on them, including stats, highlights and (small sample size) analysis.
Well in advance of Marlins spring training, top prospects Jazz Chisholm, Jorge Guzman, Nick Neidert and Sixto Sánchez were in Miami for the MLB Rookie Career Development program.
Braxton Garrett has been in the neighborhood, too. On the latest Fish Stripes podcast episode, Garrett explains why he decided to make South Florida his year-round home and how he’s training for the 2020 season (plus much more).

2019-20 LIDOM Round Robin stats
- Jarlin García—3.60 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, 4 K in 5.0 IP (8 G)

Despite mixed results for García and O’Brien during the Round Robin, their Toros del Este have secured a berth in the league championship series. For the offseason overall, García has made 15 relief appearances, though the team is careful to limit him to one inning at a time and allow at least one day of rest in between using him.

Caimanes de Barranquilla went 1-3 during the playoffs before being eliminated, with their supporting cast unable to compensate for Harold Ramirez’s 3-for-16 performance.
Puerto Rican Winter League
Brian Navarreto’s Gigantes de Carolina are headed home after Monday’s defeat to Indios de Mayagüez. Navarreto batted .318 during the playoffs, but went 0-for-5 in the elimination game and made the final out while representing the potential tying run.
Venezuelan Winter League
- Miguel Rojas—.000/.167/.000 in 6 AB
Rojas made his 2019-20 Tiburones de La Guaira debut on Sunday, starting at first base for their semifinal matchup. After they suffered a blowout loss, he was conspicuously absent from the Game 2 lineup, eventually coming off the bench to pinch-hit and take over at second base. La Guaira would go on to lose in extra innings.
The series resumes on Wednesday.
