Marlins Lineup

  1. SS Miguel Rojas
  2. CF Lewis Brinson
  3. 3B Starlin Castro
  4. C Jorge Alfaro
  5. RF Harold Ramirez
  6. 1B Martín Prado
  7. 2B Isan Díaz
  8. LF Austin Dean
  9. SP Robert Dugger (4.29 ERA, 5.78 FIP, 15.6 K%, 45.5 Hard Hit% in 21.0 IP)

Notes: Garrett Cooper (left knee contusion) is optimistic that he avoided a serious injury on Friday, but at least for tonight, he’ll be resting...The Marlins have claimed left-hander Josh Smith off waivers from the Indians, transferring JT Riddle to the 60-day injured list to create space on their 40-man roster. The soon-to-be 30-year-old fits in the Brian Moran category of journeymen relievers who are worth a look for a team that’s had so many late-inning pitching issues...An 11th-round draft pick of the Marlins 20 years ago and a major league reliever for them from 2005-2007, Randy Messenger is retiring from baseball (h/t Jim Allen). He made the move to Nippon Professional Baseball in 2010 and has been there ever since, a steady member of the Hanshin Tigers starting rotation.

Giants Lineup

  1. RF Mike Yastrzemski
  2. 1B Brandon Belt
  3. 3B Evan Longoria
  4. LF Stephen Vogt
  5. CF Kevin Pillar
  6. C Buster Posey
  7. SS Brandon Crawford
  8. 2B Mauricio Dubon
  9. SP Madison Bumgarner (3.77 ERA, 3.80 FIP, 24.1 K%, 41.2 Hard Hit% in 188.2 IP)

Notes: Same starting position player group that the Giants used in the series opener. It skews unusually old for a franchise that’s supposed to be prioritizing the future over the present...Bumgarner faces the Marlins nearly every season, but strangely has never made a start beyond six innings against them.
