WICHITA—Bright colors and a nod to a close-by waterway could be part of the new identity of Miami’s migrating Triple-A team. Wichita Baseball 2020 updated the name on its social media accounts to “Wichita River Riders” early Thursday morning, later clarifying that the name is one of seven finalists selected from the original pool of more than 3,000 fan submissions.
Now that everyone is awake, here is how we are going to begin rollin' out some potential identities. Huge thanks to @MissAmericaKS for helping us with this process. Want to see @ToddRadom's work? Checkout https://t.co/TmgQU9UgHR. #RepYour2020 pic.twitter.com/UNY7lhtQGu

The current Marlins affiliate, the New Orleans Baby Cakes, is set to move into a new downtown stadium in Wichita once it is completed prior to the 2020 season. The team will remain a member of the Pacific Coast League.
Right-handers Sixto Sánchez and Nick Neidert and outfielder Monte Harrison are among the notable prospects projected to be on the Opening Day roster.
Wichita’s team name will be officially announced in November following the conclusion of the minor league season. The final version of the logo is being produced by veteran designer Todd Radom.
