In his eighth season as Director of Broadcasting and play-by-play announcer for the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, Roger Hoover has had a first-hand look at future Marlins stars. Especially here in 2019, the Shrimp roster is loaded with high-ceiling, high-character talent.
On this podcast episode, Ethan Budowsky chats with Hoover (2:50) about the team’s performance, featuring prospects Sixto Sánchez, Jazz Chisholm and Lewin Díaz, plus memories of Monte Harrison and Isan Díaz who passed through the Double-A level last summer.

The Shrimp have overcome a sluggish start to surge to a 58-61 record (despite being out-homered, 98-51). Going 29-20 during the second half of the season has them firmly in the mix for a playoff berth.
Hoover went viral in 2018 when a foul ball destroyed his computer in the press box, while he expertly narrated the moment.
